I’ve created a new Internet forum dedicated to those who enjoy music and movices but don’t want to spend a lot of money on audio and home theater equipment. If you’re in the market for a receiver or speakers or subwoofer etc., it’s become tougher and tougher to figure out what to buy. Tweeters has gone under and Circuit City isn’t far behind. You want something a little better then what you can find at Walmart, but people in the blue shirts at Best Buy? Well, most of them are 11 or 12 (at least that’s the way it seems) and maybe their preferences for music reproduction might be, shall we say, different.
What do you do? Maybe use the Internet, Google, okay, there you go, Google is your friend. Try this search “cheap speakers”, you get 85,000 results (with quotes) and 586,000 (without). Have fun finding what’s best for you there :)
To help those searching for audio equipment, beleaguered by what to buy, the terminology, the dearth of options in your town and overwhelming choices online, I’ve created www.BudgetAVTalk.com (BAV for short). BAV is a online forum dedicated to those seeking quality audio equipment without spending a fortune.
So you want a pair of speakers. You want good ones, but don’t want to spend a grand or even close. Right now, you could go to any one of a dozen existing forums and post your question. Sure, there are people just like you and if you search long enough you’ll probably find a thread whose title matches almost exactly what you’re looking for. Those threads die quickly however, as regulars on those forums are serious audiophiles (or think they are) and wanting the best that money can buy and will quickly try and steer you to more expense stuff or get bored by your “newbee” questions.
BAV is different in that our focus is people like you. BAV is new, brand spanking new and initially, advice will be provided by your truly, but over time, as the visitors grow and we become more popular on Internet search engines, we’ll be attracting more people who think like us.
It’s free, no really, it’s free. You don’t even have to register, althougth you will if you want to ask questions. You can browse and search the forums. If you can’t find the answers you are looking for or just want to chat, you can register. Registration is also free, no really, free.
Hey Dave, you ask, everything is free, what’s up with that? Two reasons, first, BAV is 100% supported through the advertizements shown on the forum. The ad’s (by Google, for now) are geared towards the audience I’m trying to attract. My hope is you will see an ad that interests you and click on it. Each time you do, a teenie tiny amount of money goes into my account.
By the way, www.BudgetAVTalk.com is hosted by www.NetLowDown.com which coincidentally, is run by me. Which leads me to my second reason. If you want a presence on the web, be it a blog or your own web page, let me know. If you have a small business and want a web presence, let me know. Blogs and websites are not free, but you may be surprised how inexpensive they are. You can reach me via the Contact Us link on that site or simply reply to this blog.
